SCAM HMRC
American robot voice (pre-recorded, not even a human voice) witters on about tax evasion and fraud, mentions HMRC and asks you to call back immediately. Summing up - I dont thinks HMRC use american robo-voices, and Im pretty sure I have no tax evasion or fraud issues. So my suggestion is to ignore these sad sacks.

It is a scam
I called back and asked the person how they could prove themselves to be HMRC. The response was "We are the HMRC, and we do not need to prove it".

HMRC Scam
28/09/17 I got an Automated 02032899210 call from, male American accent giving no names and refering to "your lawyer or you" to call HMRC Headquarters"re tax evasion". I'm a disabled person and no tax evasion or fraud issues. So it was clearly SCAM.

Who are they? The man I spoke to begged and pleaded with me not to report them to the police but I am going to do that right now and suggest anyone being scammed does the same.

Received a similar call re "tax evasion".
Received a similar call re tax evasion. they didn't give a name of a particular person. I called the number 02032899210 and they answered "HMRC crime investigations unit". When I asked them which office, where they were based etc, they hung up. I tried calling back but now the number is busy all the time

Me too
I’m going contact the telephone preference scheme. It’s clearly a scam, poor pronunciation, and desperately American with a weak r.

Nasty Scam
Same. Spoke to an aggressive woman who didn't even have my name. Obviously making it up as she went along...that my husband had filed my name and I am responsible for his tax for the last six years!!! :)) I pointed out that, to start with, perhaps he is responsible for his own tax?! Maybe?! Haha but yes, this could scare people and is a nasty scam.

Since I bought a BT Guardian phone from B & Q which lets only people you now through unless they leave their name after which the phone rings and announces who they are which gives you the option to let them through or block the call I haven't had a since call from these people it was worth the one off payment of £50 to by these phones.

Fraud/Scam from automated number 0203 2899210
An indian/asian accented automated voicemail message called my home number on 10/10/2017 claiming I was accused of tax evasion. I haven't called the number back as it was spoken with poor English and sounds like a scam. Am sure the real HMRC would not cold call like that.

hmrc fraud scam
Got the robotic voice scam call today, obvious scam. Contacted HMRC and was told there has been a spike in these types of calls, passed on the number to them as they are already investigating and are collecting the info on these scammed, was also told that there is a new email scam with a very convincing looking tax rebate message

Try 1471 straight after call
I suspected it was a scam due to voice & I don't imagine this is how HMRC would operate. I did 1471 last number recall as suggested on internet. The number was 01865 18643. I will be sending this info to Action Fraud. May help if others did the same it may help as some poor soul somewhere will no doubt fall for it and end up losing valuable dosh?

This is a HMRC scam
Friend recently scammed by them. Disgusting examples of humanity. Not a lot the UK police can do as it's a UK land line operated remotely from abroad. Officer Rose Harrington and her side kick Senior Investigator Anthony Cooper. Please call them on 0203 289 9210...give them a dose of what they deserve...

Re: Anon. who posted at 22.23 on 20/10/17, may I strongly suggest to anyone that you do NOT follow Anons. advice regarding ringing this no. back and giving them a dose of their own medicine. Quite simply you do not know whether you will be connected to a Premium Rate phone no. for which you could be charged up to £100 a minute. After all this lot are clearly scammers, so what else is lying in wait for those who actually respond to this call by phoning back this no.. If you wish to proceed them you must protect yourself by hiding your phone no. e.g. by putting 141 in front. Also to clarify Anon.'s comment about it being a 'UK land line operated remotely from abroad, it is actually a VGPN (Virtual Geographic Phone No.) which uses The Cloud and VoIP to make it look like it is a UK landline no., but it is computer generated.
