The exact same thing happened to me about an hour ago. I called back and it was a foreign ringtone (strange as its a London code). Someone answered and hung up. I called back and they didn't pick up. It's a SCAM so don't follow it up and no need to panic.

Just had a call from this number saying my father had been arrested by customs and to call the number back. As my father is no longer with us - and hasn't been for 23 years - I ignored it. Scam.

Same situation just 5 minutes ago. robotic message on my voicemail saying there is a lawsuit against me, etc. I know it is a scam, and as far as I remember things like this can be reported to HMRC to investigate. Going to check this later and report if possible.

HMRC scam call
Just had the same call at lunch time - it was a recorded message (a woman) telling me that she was from HMRC and that a lawsuit had been filed against me. She said that my house was under surveillance and to call back on this number straight away.

Ben, oh dear. How naïve are you? They do not have just your name. They also have your phone number. They also now know that your phone is an active phone, so these details can be passed on via the dark web to yet another load of scammers who will subversively get more information out of you, and you will gradually trust them as they now have so much information about you that they must be speaking the truth. Thus when they finally claim that they are from, say, your bank (oh and you may have inadvertently told them this (e.g. "Hello, Ben this is Barclays here" and your reply may have been "I bank with Lloyds" Oops!) and before you can say that oops, they will have cleared your account .
