Called tonight by the number Indian sounding man called Jix said he was from windows security. He told me that someone was using my identity on my laptop that the laptop would be blocked in 5 minutes because criminal activity was taking place from it. He asked me to get a laptop for him to show me. It's a scam.

I had the same sort of thing left on my answering machine from a woman calling herself Jessica. She had a very strong accent. I reported this to Action Fraud and have not called the number she gave.

Just ignore
I'm always aware its some odd company phoning with the sequence of numbers or out of area if you want some respite, answer the call but say nothing, dont answer their hello just be silent, they will hang up pretty quickly. You wont get a third call, I go through this for a week then months of nothing, they dont like the Silence.g , Also find there is increase in these during half terms, I suppose they are hoping Kids will be at home and be able to farm information out of them.

I've had a couple of calls from this number and finally answered today at which point the gentleman on the phone told me he wanted to ask me some questions lasting 2 minutes. I immediately asked him to remove my name from their database and he responded with "why" then hung up.

Consumer research....and as like all these type of operations...when someone actually answers the phone at the customer end, the call is put through to an operator...if there is one available, hence the silence if one is not immediately there. They do state, if calling the number back, to leave your name and number to remove you from the database, which I have....so we shall see if these "nuisance" calls do actually stop!

I stopped these calls
I phoned my call provider and asked them about call barring after getting loads of nuisance calls from this number. Now I just hang up after a call I don't want, key in a 5 digit number and I never get another call from them again. Brilliant!! I am with Talk Talk by the way but I am sure most phone companies provide this service.

They called our TPS registered number and when I asked them they said they don't bother comparing against TPS lists! But they were happy to give me their company name and number so I could register a complaint with TPS.

Magazine etc
Had a call on 26/10/14 offering discount magazines - gardening, travel, lifestyle and more. The offer is for 5 publications for an initial £1.00. I make a policy of never giving my card details over the 'phone for anything so why did I go for a travel magazine which I will probably never read??

I hate boiler room scams
www.sterlingandcarter.co.uk
www.fca.org.uk/news/warnings/sterling-and-carter A harsh exchange of words won't even stop them calling. Now doing loan scams and cloning genuine companies to add to daft investment opportunities. They register internet domains by the score at a time and duplicate with slight name changes. They will have many new fronts every few weeks or months. Many former ones are listed by fca as firms to avoid are just scams by them www.fca.org.uk/consumers/protect-yourself/unauthorised-firms/unauthorised-firms-to-avoid

Postcard Scam - Cash Prize Winner
Received another postcard again, so I thought I would check the SCAM again ... and sure enough nothing has changed SAME number 02034328070 ( auto redirected to overseas location - albeit you pay the local UK charge 020 ), SAME message - you have won £183,997.00 prize plus a FREE Garnet & Pearl Pendant ( whoopee ! ), you just have to send the usual £15 shipping fee using any one of your various cards ( Eurocard, Mastercard, Meastro, Visa ) .... OH REALLY !!!! It's kind of funny how having won £183,997.00 already they couldn't cover this £15 fee themselves, well surprise surprise !!! ... PHONE DOWN OF COURSE.

Was persistent
I was getting fed up with this number calling but when I answered last night to tell them to SOD off but it was a young man who was looking to sort out some cover I need with my mortgage and I just have to say he did a great job and saved me a big wedge against taking it with my bank! Cheers Dave.

Claim to be Consumer Group something or other
Blathering on about New Government Legislation on Pension Release. Say they get your number from over 300 providers. If that is the case the providers should know better than to give out customer details to 3rd parties. So sick of the lack of data protection yet when we ring a company, we have to jump through hoops to prove who we are!! "IT'S FOR DATA PROTECTION" my foot!!!

Do not open link
My son received a message saying you have paid £30 for 6 entries from combo. 02035405938. I phoned the number and it was a voicemail saying the offices were closed. I then looked up the number on line and seen all the comments about saying its a scam. I phoned my mobile provider talk mobile who said they would put a lock on the phone to stop receiving these calls but could not do anything about the charge and that I would have to pay. It hasn't appeared on my bill yet but it takes 48 hours. What I can't understand is if I am getting charged then the mobile provider must be paying out this money, if they know it is a scam why can't they put a stop to it! The answer I got was that they get so many scams that it is impossible to do anything !!
