Same scam situation
Called by guy claiming to be from Telephone Preference Service offering an upgrade to my service for £21.99 very aggressive but clever selling technique. Asked me for Bank details and age - don't give any information to these people they are scammers - TPS is free - he suggested I call 0203 630 5457 if I had a problem. Using the cover of TPS to run a telephone scam - you couldn't make this stuff up!

Called me today, 09.12.17 @ 12:09 saying I had been using his WiFi (a Male with a mild Scottish accent), quite shouty and was insistent I was using his WiFi and he had searched and got my IP address and phone number, I urged him to speak with his internet provider and the police if he felt this way, but it was not the case. Was mildly abusive (I was scum and some other derogatory terms), but nothing to bad just a bit shouty which didn't perturb me. Just the call was irritating but can imagine someone who was vulnerable may be affected by the call

Legal company spam
Another "you've had an accident that wasn't your fault" spam call from a parasitic legal company. Told the woman to f*** off, which won't make any difference, it just makes me feel better.

Poppy, the answer is easy: lists! How many times are you asked on some form or another for your phone number? Loads I expect. These are then collated and sold on to others. Do not think for one moment that ex-directory phone numbers are immune either. All someone has to do is have a random number generator and sooner or later they will strike lucky (in 2 ways!) with phone a supposedly ex-directory number. 1. will be that it actually rings and 2. is then seen to be an 'active' number when that person called picks up the phone. Thus one should not concern oneself with HOW they get people's phone numbers. It should be more about WHAT they use the phone number and call for e.g. a marketing or a scam call. The how can be important to some people as breaches of PECR could occur (Privacy and Electronic Communications - EC Directive 2003 - Regulations e.g. in that the caller should have the person called's permission to phone them. Sorry, reached my character limit!

This is plain fraud
They constantly call claiming to be B.T. and say I have slow service which they can cure . They ask me to change some log ins on my PC. Yeah. Right. I am really going to do that. So normally I just hang up. This time when they called I said I was busy and would call them back and this is the number they gave. I'm not going to call it as it would probably cost a fortune simply to call them.

Bogus car accident claims
I get at least one call a week from crooks like this firm pretending that they know of a car accident I've had. This one did she was "Louise Walters of Altus Advice". I'd suggest blocking ALL numbers from 0203514. What are you going to miss out on??

No accident
When asked who told them I had had an accident they quoted the Road Traffic Accident Department but would not give further details - since not had accident I blocked the number. Sweet talking lady first rang but when I questioned her I was put through to an indian accented "supervisor" who was obviously in a call centre - just say no and block immediately.

I was trying to inquire about capitalone ppi, and accidentally enter my email and phone number onto their site, someone called me told them that it was mistake, and wanted to deal directly with CapitalOne not a PPI agency. They are now harassing me call 3-5 times a day, from different numbers Manchester, London they don't take no for an answer. I have blocked 5 of their numbers now but they keep calling me from different ones, there should be a law against these people.
