Let's get this right!
This number definitely but definitely is Marks and Spencer Bank. They are, nevertheless, a wretched nuisance. Despite my wife telling them loads of times not to call her, she will do everything by letter, they ring and hang up within a couple of rings if we are not fast enough for them. Damned impatience, this is a nuisance to behave like this, we do not all walk around with phones clapped to our lugholes just waiting for good old M&S to call so that we can drop everything and answer the impatient muppet within 10 seconds. By the time you've wiped, pulled your pants up, and washed your hands, they've gone. And I'm not joking, this is a good as it gets.

Survey
Caller said she wanted to do a survey about my banking experiences. Claimed to be from "GFK", and said this was "Growth FOR Knowledge". Company seems correctly titled Growth FROM Knowledge", and doesn't seem to be involved in banking surveys. I did not let her conduct survey.

BEWARE - scam
Someone on this number rang my 96 yr old Mum 3 times in one day recently, luckily she is a very astute o.a.p. She has a Halifax card and they knew her name too !! So I rang the Halifax 24 hr number on back of card who said the number was NOT their number but very similar.

Although this is a Natwest number, it is a scam. Had a phone call from this number saying two direct debits had been set up from my account from John Lewis and Car phone warehouse.....funnily enough, I had the same phone call two weeks ago from an unknown number. They ask you to delete your online banking app and for your online banking pin!

Scam suspicion
Scam suspicion. This number called multiple times on both my mobile and landline. They said it's Tesco Bank and they need to talk to me but would not reveal why unless I go through security questions. Refused to put me through to supervisor or give any information whatsoever. When I called the bank on their actual helpline, they said that that is unusual and wouldn't recommend talking to the caller as there was no reason the bank would need to contact me. I suspect fraudulent call trying to gain access to bank account.

HSBC Fraud line *VALID*!
Contrary to the previous Anon comment, I was called by HSBC fraud team today (Nov 17) with a valid query on my HSBC business account - I asked to call them back, and the gave this number as a direct line alternative to the main Telephone Banking number.

First Direct/HSBC fraud team
I was a bit wary when I had the VM about calling back, however when I rang they simply repeated some recent transactions to me and asked if they are genuine. Didn't ask for any details about from my name and D.O.B, of which they had my full name anyway in the VM. Also if you look at their fraud no. on the website and on the back of your card, it matches.

ha! yes, just email them with your phone number and name and while you are at it, let them know your bank account details, mothers maiden name, your birthday etc. That way they don't need to call you anymore, they can just sign you up for crap, thus saving you the nuisance calls and saving them the time it takes to call you. It's a win win for everyone!

SSE
They've started with me now. Bad timing because I'm waiting for hospital test results so it has caused me some worry. 😩😬 They rang twice yesterday and once this morning. Luckily I have an app that rejects this kind of call on my smartphone automatically so I just see it in my missed call list - it's getting moved to permanently reject now that I've checked out just who these annoying ba😠😠😠😬😬😬 are. I'll also be changing my energy supplier from SSE permanently.

It IS a scam
HSBC have confirmed today that this number is NOT an HSBC number. Like others, I received the text to call. HSBC (0345 7404404) confirmed that they had not sent me any texts. Indeed that they do not send texts in this way. Do not call it. Do not give out personal detail to it.

Final notice
I received a letter from "Churchill" giving final notice to a supposed claim for an supposed incident back in March 2017. The vehicle registration was one of our company vehicles but we had no record of any incidents with this vehicle and no contact from our insurance company. I was suspicious but called the number. On checking the number online I found these messages.

Are 0345 numbers free to call? 0345 numbers are not the same as freephone 0800 and 0808 numbers, but they can be called at no extra charge on many phone tariffs. If your phone tariff offers free calls to landlines at certain times of day, or has inclusive calls or bundled minutes that cover calls to landline numbers, calls to 0345 numbers (and all other 03 numbers) will be included in these deals on the exact same basis.... www.area-codes.org.uk/0345-numbers.php

HSBC
HSBC fraud team - genuine call and also text message. I rang back on the number from their website rather than the one stated and it was a genuine call - they transferred me to the fraud team and everything fine. Really on the ball though! I'd opened a new account with a trader online & they said there hadn't been any history of me using that trader so they stopped my card as a precaution. Better safe than sorry
