Unbelieveable !!!
From 21st - 30th March I received 12 calls, from 6th -27th Sept I received 18 calls - 30 in all so far. Not answered one of them, would have thought they would have gotten the message by now and given up !!! Think I might buy a whistle tomorrow !!!

But the scammers are able to use a false number...the number from Barclays in this instance. Yes, you can call that number back, and yes you will most probably get through to the Barclays Premier Team...but I can nigh on guarantee you that none of the people sitting there in that room will know anything about a phone call to you in the previous few minutes.

Baycorp and privacy
I think that Baycorp are sending bulk lots of mail trying to get hold of people whose debt they have 'bought'. Due to privacy rules in NZ, they can't alert general population that Mrs Smith or Mr Jones has a history with Baycorp, so they just send very generic letters. It looks proper shifty though.

I called Barclaycard and it WAS them, and this number is ok something about possible attempt at hacking or trying to get customer information fraudulently on some Barclaycard accounts. So they wanted permission to stop the cards. They will send us new cards. The phone call took 16 minutes (14 mins of waiting). Moral: I will still always call the company back myself. Don't ring the number that's given to you look up the company yourself, even if it is a bank.

I get quite a lot of calls from 08000445265
Usually once I recognise this number I either pick the 'phone up but say nothing or I just let the 'phone ring. I would like to be able to stop these nuisance calls, especially as I now know who they are and why they are calling me.

Definitely a SCAM.
Rang me this morning. When I answered and an Indian man asked for me by name. He said they were working on behalf of my supplier to stop nuisance calls. I asked who my supplier was and they gave me the correct info which is a bit worrying. They said I had previously registered but didnt say when, despite me asking. They said they had to check my address and post code (my old one) but I said they were correct. Was then asked me to get my card and give them the "Preference reference number" which began with 4 on the front i.e. the card number. Then asked for the numbers on the back including the security no. Obviously i didn't give the correct numbers. He got a bit irate when the card didnt go through. I hung up. Am worried how many vulnerable people get caught out.

Got same text message
After looking at all the comments above please forgive me for being completely confused. On balance I am inclined to believe that it must be a scam because I simply cannot believe that BT would just give my contracted phone number away without written authority from me or unless I myself had defaulted badly under the terms of my contract with them which allows them to take payment monthly by direct debit. They quite simply have me where they want me and would not wish to lose me. They also would risk an expensive court case if they were in default of contract with me.

It IS NatWest
Rang 0800 032 2116 after a VM. It is an automated service to save time. Asked me to provide card number some DoB info. Told me last 5 transactions ( I thought how could a scammer possible know this????) I'd done or attempted. All correct. Asked me to confirm these were correct which I did. Told me card now active again. Thinking I may have been an idiot, rang the NW fraud number. They confirmed 0800 032 2116 definitely is their number for the automated service and that, as I'd successfully used it, my card was indeed re-activated. Reason it was de-activated was I gave the wrong end date by mistake as the light at the time was poor.

Looks like some sort of scam.
Got an email from Sainsburys, looked like a competition. Entered code into my phone and found I was to be charged £4:55 per week through my mobile phone. Fell into that one, so cancelled and blocked the number. Original email came into my spam box, so should have been suspicious.
